What are we born for? What is the greatest purpose and privilege to be given life?

We have been given life. It didn’t come about randomly, without meaning. We were designed. We are provided for. Who by and for what purpose?

The Lord God, who made heaven and earth, made us.

Psalm 24:1 (NLT)

The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to him.

Now we belong to Him, to live a fruitful life and to worship Him. When we worship Him, we obey His will. We focus on Him, on His ways, and we acknowledge Him as our Sovereign Ruler. Even as we do, we indirectly heal and complete something within ourselves because we were created in His image.

Colossians 3:10 (NLT)

Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him.

For what purpose, ultimately? Beyond all the activity, the productivity, the work and the rest? Through all the thoughts, the emotions, the plans, processes and relationships?

1 Peter 2:9 (AMPC)

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a dedicated nation, [God’s] own purchased, special people, that you may set forth the wonderful deeds and display the virtues and perfections of Him Who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.

Our hearts were created to receive His love first, and then to love Him. That means worship. That means honouring. That means ministering to Him, our Potter. To be adaptive and productive in His Kingdom, to which we have been called as priests. We belong with Him, in His Presence of light.

The sons of Amram: Aaron and Moses.

Aaron was set apart, he and his descendants forever, to consecrate the most holy things, to offer sacrifices before the Lord, to minister before him and to pronounce blessings in his name forever.

We are called to consecrate our lives to Him, the most holy thing. To offer sacrifices of praise. To offer encouragement, hope, and help to those who need it. To show compassion and generosity to one another. To pronounce blessings in His name. In so doing, we minister to Him.

Such a gift. To be justified to live a life that’s pleasing and worthwhile before a holy and good King.
