Don’t Be Afraid Of An Imperfect Life


Our internal compass to do well, and look like we’re doing well, can be borne from a desire to prove ourselves, or from the belief that we’re entitled to a certain way of life. Insecurities about not being enough steal our peace and fill us with a false sense of failure.


Is our house a mess? We don’t have the things our neighbours have? We can’t afford the latest gear for our kids? Are those the important things in life? Maybe we sacrificed our career to ensure our child’s emotional well-being and we ended up financially struggling. Maybe we walked away from an abusive marriage rather than lose our own life or our children’s safety. Maybe we lost relationships because of our position in Christ. Maybe we can’t afford to run a car and we get around on foot.


Don't be afraid of loss or conflict.


Don't be afraid of an imperfect life.


Life may not be what we thought it would be, but are we living it with Godly integrity?


Ephesians 3:16-19 (NIV)

I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.


If we consistently ground ourselves in God’s love, we will grow in His power and strength. He can fill us with a measure of fullness that nobody else can give or take away.


Luke 12:25-26 (NCV)

You cannot add any time to your life by worrying about it. If you cannot do even the little things, then why worry about the big things.


Psalm 46:10 (GWT)

Let go [of your concerns]! Then you will know that I am God. I rule the nations. I rule the earth.


Proverbs 16:9 (CSB)

A person’s heart plans his way, but the LORD determines his steps.


Proverbs 16:3 (NKJV)

Commit your works to the LORD, and your thoughts will be established.


If we are diligent about following the things God places on our heart to do, He will look after our needs. Practise dependency on Him and allow Him to direct each day. Not only will we be equipped and provided for, we will be fulfilled, we will please our Father in heaven, and He will establish our life the way He intends, in perfect time.


Philippians 4:19 (ESV)

And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
