Incomparable Riches

When the bible talks about incomparable riches, it isn’t talking about material benefits. That’s why it’s incomparable. We can compare material riches. What we can’t compare is the incomparable benefits of knowing Him.

When we seek after Him, we are changing (from glory to glory: 2 Corinthians 3:18) as the Spirit of God opens our eyes in wisdom and revelation to His Word so that we may know Him better.

Ephesians 1:17-19 (NIV)

I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people, and his incomparably great power for us who believe.

To the seeker, these riches are worth far more than material wealth, which is gained, lost, and cannot be taken with us when we die. There is comfort in material wealth, but it is of limited value.

2 Corinthians 3:18 (NIV)

And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

This means nothing to people who don’t desire Him or seek Him. The promise of spiritual blessings is in the being of God Himself that becomes our knowing, our unity, our oneness with Him and with each other. We have it, but we do not perceive it fully, yet.

Ephesians 1:3 (AMPC)

May blessing (praise, laudation, and eulogy) be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah) who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual (given by the Holy Spirit) blessing in the heavenly realm!

People who don’t look for God for Himself will try and perceive Him through material blessings. To those who don’t desire God’s spiritual blessings, the value of God is lost.

It’s like holding a rock in your hand without knowing inside the rock is an uncut, invaluable gemstone waiting to be revealed. The value is there in your hand but it remains hidden, looking like a rock.

Ephesians 1:3 says we are already blessed with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realm in Christ. We walk in it today. We just need to desire what God's revelation means and seek after it. Then we will know Him better and walk in His Spirit and His power.
