Light that Changes Atmospheres
It’s comforting to see a light in the darkness. We gravitate to light unless we’re trying to hide.
When light shines in dark places it exposes what’s there. Many people are trying to hide from the truth, from the light of Christ Jesus. People who react against us are often reacting against the light of Christ in us.
1 Thessalonians 5:5 (NLV)
For you are children of the light and of the day. We are not of darkness or of night.
We don’t have any reason or desire to hide from anything, to stay in dark corners, and we have no need to be influenced or contained by others who choose to stay in the dark. We are alive and well and live in the light that exposes every dark thing that would want to inhibit us.
John 8:12 (NLT)
Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, “I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life.”
God’s desire for us today is that we seek His light and be transformed by it, not the world around us. He helps us to express His light so that the atmosphere and people around us can be transformed by it too.
Matthew 5:14-16 (NIV)
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
If we believe in Jesus Christ and have decided to follow Him we are of the light. We carry that within us.
I pray that we remain actively aware of the light in us that changes atmospheres today.
