Refilling My Cup

Is my cup filled with natural inclinations this morning, or with spiritual need? I lift my cup up to the Creator of heaven and earth who has given Himself to me and I ask Him to fill me so that all of me can be refilled, not just my natural self.

As I am refilling my cup this morning, I think about how I define myself in the One who is alive in my heart and working in my life.

Matthew 6:25 (NLT)

“That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing?

I’m a follower of Christ and He gives me different patterns of living.

The patterns of this world are not only what's going on around me, externally. The patterns of this world must include my own mind, my heart and my spirit. Even my body, which I often forget. My mind follows patterns and I have to bring my thoughts under control if I’m to have peace and understanding and follow his leading.

Romans 12:2 (NCV)

Do not be shaped by this world; instead be changed within by a new way of thinking. Then you will be able to decide what God wants for you; you will know what is good and pleasing to him and what is perfect.

I give up what worries my mind and I replace it with praise in the Way-Maker. I remind myself who I am and who I trust.

Psalm 20:7

(GNT) Some trust in their war chariots and others in their horses, but we trust in the power of the Lord our God.

(TLB) Some nations boast of armies and of weaponry, but our boast is in the Lord our God.

I hear the Lord say to me this morning,

‘Walk softly. Be at peace. In quietness and confidence will be your strength. I am your strength. Look to me and I will direct your feet, and implant my thoughts over yours. Do not worry about anything. But in everything, give thanks and your day will be full to overflowing with good things. Am I not the God of all good things? Fill your mind with these thoughts, and enjoy your day. I have given it to you to enjoy.’

Thank you, Lord God. I love you. Thank you for loving me, seeing me, knowing me. Thank you for being with me in all the moments. Help me to be your light in all the dark places. Touch every corner and every person with your goodness wherever I go that they will feel the brush of your heart and receive it.
