The Abundance of
Heavenly Riches
Matthew 13:10-12, 15 (NLT)
His disciples came and asked him, “Why do you use parables when you talk to the people?” He replied, “You are permitted to understand the secrets of the Kingdom of Heaven, but others are not. To those who listen to my teaching, more understanding will be given, and they will have an abundance of knowledge. But for those who are not listening, even what little understanding they have will be taken away from them….
For the hearts of these people are hardened, and their ears cannot hear, and they have closed their eyes—so their eyes cannot see, and their ears cannot hear, and their hearts cannot understand, and they cannot turn to me and let me heal them.
The secrets of heaven are given to those who want to hear and have a heart to understand. They’re not given to those who don’t want to know; who refuse to listen to its wisdom and beauty.
Matthew 7:6 (CSB)
Don’t give what is holy to dogs or toss your pearls before pigs, or they will trample them under their feet, turn, and tear you to pieces.
Pearls are precious and pigs crave what is carnal. The two cannot go together.
For those desiring what is precious and sacred, the secrets of the Kingdom of Heaven will be shown, and more understanding will be given, creating a bank of wealth. But for those who show disregard or disdain to those things that are of such value, and refuse to listen, that wealth won’t be shared with them.
The abundance of heavenly riches is a treasury of knowledge and understanding, of righteousness and peace. It doesn’t come with natural sight and can’t be made sense of with the carnal mind. It comes with a heart intent on looking for its wealth in the rocky places of life and the empty hollows of loss or grief. It comes to those people who know, in themselves, they hold nothing on their own. They look to God for hope, inspiration, life and meaning, and in the end will receive the joy of everlasting life with Him.
Matthew 5:3 (NIV)
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Psalm 47:6-7 (NLV)
Sing praises to God. Sing praises. Sing praises to our King. Sing praises. For God is the King of all the earth. Sing praises with a well written song.
