How Do I Know Jesus
Is The Only Way?
God Himself placed our spirit inside of us in order that we know Him, and His Spirit could live with us there, being part of us.
Proverbs 20:27
(NASB) The spirit [breath] of a person is the lamp of the Lord, searching all the innermost parts of his being [chambers of his body].
(AMP) The [lit. breath] spirit (conscience) of man is the lamp of the Lord, searching and examining all the innermost parts of his being.
We can recognise what’s right within ourselves, without anyone teaching us, although we need to recognise it or we excuse ourselves. God created this in every person so that we could recognise Him. The law was written so people could testify to what He has already written in our hearts.
Romans 2:15 (ISV)
They show that what the Law requires is written in their hearts, a fact to which their own consciences testify, and their thoughts will either accuse or excuse them
Everyone, no matter what religion we’re brought up in, have a need in our heart and spirit to know the true God. We search for Him even if we don’t know it’s Him we’re searching for, because He knew us first.
Our hearts, and our conscience know Him, deep within.
Jeremiah 29:11-13 (AMP)
For I know the plans and thoughts that I have for you,’ says the Lord, ‘plans for peace and well-being and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call on Me and you will come and pray to Me, and I will hear [your voice] and I will listen to you. Then [with a deep longing] you will seek Me and require Me [as a vital necessity] and [you will] find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.
When we find Him, peace that we don’t understand comes, because we’ve opened up that part of ourselves to Him – our spirit – that He created, and only He can fill and satisfy it.
1 Corinthians 3:16 (NASB)
Do you not know that you are a temple [a sanctuary] of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?
We recognise God first through our spirit, not our minds. We can see the work of His hands through nature, and we may perceive Him there. How do I know Jesus is the only way? We recognise Him through our spirit and we know He is evidenced in history. When we try and rationalise the spiritual, we can’t understand it. People who search for Him with their minds alone won’t find Him. The Spirit of God reveals Himself to those who search from their heart, the spirit, with their very breath, without limitation. From recognising Him by the Spirit, we can then understand with our mind and He brings comprehension wherever we search.
Romans 15:13 (AMP)
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing [through the experience of your faith] that by the power of the Holy Spirit you will abound in hope and overflow with confidence in His promises.
The word that God spoke to me by his spirit when reading this journal was "Lord, write your name, Jesus, on the Tablet of my Heart." and I had tears suddenly well up in my eyes, it was so touching, only the Holy Spirit can speak to our hearts in such a profound and loving way. Praise the Lord, for he is good and his mercies endure forever!
