God's Fierce Heart

of Tenderness

Sometimes, God calls us to do hard things. He calls us to love people who don’t want to receive our love. He calls us to go into uncomfortable or even dangerous situations. He calls us to do what we just don’t want to do. Sometimes we question that. But we are always called to look beyond ourselves and be willing to step into where the Father heart of God directs.

God fights for every person, and the way He fights for them is through us. Just like He fought for you and me. Are we opening ourselves up to more than is convenient?

Matthew 23:12 (AMPC)

Whoever exalts himself [with haughtiness and empty pride] shall be humbled (brought low), and whoever humbles himself [whoever has a modest opinion of himself and behaves accordingly] shall be raised to honor.

We need to be willing, moldable and pliable in God’s hands.

God's fierce heart of tenderness calls us to the same. In doing the hard things we see His heart. In loving the unreceptive we learn the honour of establishing God's kingdom on earth. In doing things we don’t want to do we learn to put our entitlements down and surrender. In looking beyond ourselves we learn contentment in giving.

The calling of God calls us to humble ourselves.

It's like repairing a broken wall, piece by piece. It’s hard work. We can feel at times tired, wrung out, desperate, and unappreciated. But we are never abandoned.

Ezra 9:8-9 (The Message)

“Now for a brief time God, our God, has allowed us, this battered band, to get a firm foothold in his holy place so that our God may brighten our eyes and lighten our burdens as we serve out this hard sentence. We were slaves; yet even as slaves, our God didn’t abandon us. He has put us in the good graces of the kings of Persia and given us the heart to build The Temple of our God, restore its ruins, and construct a defensive wall in Judah and Jerusalem.

Persevere. For you do not labour in vain (1 Corinthians 15:58). You will be rewarded at the right time if you don’t give up (Galatians 6:9).

God equips us in every way that we need and fills us up with His own spiritual fruit to eat so that we have all the right ingredients for success.

Galatians 5:22-23 (AMPC)

But the fruit of the Spirit [the result of His presence within us] is love [unselfish concern for others], joy, [inner] peace, patience [not the ability to wait, but how we act while waiting], kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such things there is no law [that can bring a change].
