What Will Today Be Like?


What I choose to do with my day is up to me. How will I decide what needs to be fulfilled?


Every day is a gift from God.


Psalm 118:24 (NASB)

This is the day which the Lord has made; let’s rejoice and be glad in it.


Each of our days are measured.


Psalm 90:12

(NCV) Teach us how short our lives really are so that we may be wise.

(NLV) Teach us to understand how many days we have. Then we will have a heart of wisdom to give You.


In the way I give of myself, in choosing wisdom to use each day fruitfully, I am offering that back to the Lord in the process.


What will today be like? What am I called to fulfil today?


What I choose to do with my day is up to me, but what I am called to fulfil is up to God.

Lamentations 3:22-23 (NIV)

Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.


My work or my family may dictate my activities, but God dictates the people He calls me to care for, those people who come across my path, how my day is administered, and I choose how sensitively I respond.


Proverbs 16:9 (AMP)

A man’s mind plans his way [as he journeys through life], but the LORD directs his steps and establishes them.


I need to seek Him, like Jesus did early in the morning before the rest of the world got up, to ask Him what He wants of me each day.


This centres my heart and my mind on His purpose for me. This helps me seek His strength, His compassion, His eyes and His mind. This makes each day meaningful.


We may not always see the significance where the real significance is each day. We may not recognise the significance in who we are in each moment. But if we are doing things with a right heart and joyful spirit, people around us will notice. Some will quietly take something away with them and be encouraged and even inspired. You just don’t know what your presence means to someone near you.


Psalm 118:26-27 (AMP)

Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord; we have blessed you from the house of the Lord [you who come into His sanctuary under His guardianship]. The Lord is God, and He has given us light [illuminating us with His grace and freedom and joy].


Be God’s presence to those around you and let His light in you change the atmosphere around you and fulfil His purpose.
