Feed Surely On God's Faithfulness
Psalm 37:3 (AMPC)
Trust (lean on, rely on, and be confident) in the Lord and do good; so shall you dwell in the land and feed surely on His faithfulness, and truly you shall be fed.
Feed surely on God’s faithfulness. Take into my being the knowledge of His faithfulness. Grow in that knowledge. Be strengthened and equipped with sustenance in that knowledge. Be nourished and enriched.
And truly you shall be fed – I will reap the benefits of expecting and receiving His faithfulness. I will be confident in Him, and because of that confidence I will do good.
If I dwell in the land and feed surely on His faithfulness there is no holding me back. I don’t have to stem my goodness to others because of any sense of deficit myself. I can find joy in doing good because I am able to rely and find safety in His faithfulness to me, and know my position is securely in Him.
Philippians 4:19 (TLB)
And it is he who will supply all your needs from his riches in glory because of what Christ Jesus has done for us.
Jesus Christ has already established me in Him and because of that gift that I’ve received I can be assured of His ongoing care. Out of that assurance I want to do good to others.
What is doing good?
1. To act virtuously, especially by helping others or 2. make a helpful contribution to a situation. (Oxford languages dictionary)
According to the bible, doing good encompasses having a moral and social conscience, loving my neighbour, showing compassion in practical deeds and acts of service, and living a life by faith in worship to God because of what Christ Jesus has done for me.
Feeding on God’s faithfulness increases my capacity to live out of an expectation for sufficiency in all things, and do good for others.
Psalm 37:3
(NIV) Trust in the LORD and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
(NLT) Trust in the LORD and do good. Then you will live safely in the land and prosper.
Take time to meditate on what this means for you.
