Power, Love
and Sound Judgment
Reflect on this for a moment:
2 Timothy 1:7 (AMP)
For God did not give us a spirit of timidity or cowardice or fear, but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of sound judgment and personal discipline [abilities that result in a calm, well-balanced mind and self-control].
This scripture is telling us there is no hesitation, no question marks or uncertainty in God's spirit of power, love, and sound mind. Walking in these qualities helps us to make calm, well-balanced decisions and causes our behaviour to be calm and peaceful.
1 John 4:18 (NIV)
There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment.
There is fear in insecurity, in jealousy, in competitiveness, worry and anxiety, even some anger. Fear strips away power; dissolves away love; eats away at sound thinking. Fear is an enemy to these things.
Philippians 4:6-7 (NLV)
Do not worry. Learn to pray about everything. Give thanks to God as you ask Him for what you need. The peace of God is much greater than the human mind can understand. This peace will keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
This peace helps us to locate our courage in life; intentional courage found and rooted in God’s love. Then, nothing can particularly worry us. We intentionally place our trust in Him and His will for our lives. We intentionally place our hope in His hands that created and rules over all things. We intentionally surrender our will to His will because He designed each day of our lives to reach its fullest potential without fear.
When we live in His power, love and sound mind in us, we can live our lives in confidence. We believe our lives belong to Him; we place ourselves in Him and in His care. Every day can be profitable and abundant as we learn to place our hope and trust in Him.
Romans 5:5 (NLT)
And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love.
