Love is Patient

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.

(1 Corinthians 13:1-8)

Patient: Able to accept or tolerate delays, problems, or suffering without becoming annoyed or anxious. (Oxford dictionary)

Ephesians 4:2 (NLT)

Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love.

Everything good flows from love. Where there is deficit, there is a deficit of love. Find a spark of love and you’ll find the answer to your troubles.

“One minute of patience, ten years of peace.” Unknown.

“Patience is the best remedy for every trouble.” Unknown.

“We could never learn to be brave and patient, if there were only joy in the world.”

Helen Keller.

Don’t we always just want a peaceful, happy life without any conflict? Growth through patience develops character we can’t learn any other way. It’s a matter of controlling ourselves and putting aside our own desires for the sake of what is best for a situation or another person. In the end, we also reap the benefits.

Consider a situation in your life that requires patience. Pray for love in that situation and reflect for a moment on how love can renew your spirit to patiently endure, to patiently seek the best, and to achieve a different result through patience.

The true quality of patience and long-suffering that doesn’t tax your soul comes from a position of love. Follow after love today and you will have the patience you need to enjoy the benefits. Love is patient.

Colossians 3:12 (ESV)

Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience
