Unbound in Obedience
How much time, energy and effort do we spend wrestling with God? When we seek to do His will and surrender to the knowledge and belief in His goodness, we become unhindered and move on in life in greater freedom and joy. Unbound by obedience.
How do we fail God’s glory in us when we live according to our own sight? How do we misunderstand God’s position for us because we view life carnally?
Ephesians 2:5 (ABPE)
When we were dead in our sins, he gave us life together with The Messiah, and by his grace he saved us.
How different would our lives look if we embraced the Lord with all of our heart, mind and strength, seeking Him in all things?
In the time before the Exodus when God sent tests and instructions to the Egyptians and the Israelites, He required a response of obedience (Exodus 7-12).
Today, I suggest asking ourselves: What response am I giving to the Lord’s requirements? Am I striving against them? Am I wrestling? Or am I delighting myself in the Lord, trusting and obeying? Can I see my life profiting others? Can I see my life moving ahead in meaningful ways, not just ways that satisfy my natural expectations? Am I surrendering the things I have wanted, or fought against? Am I willing to let go the things I have been carrying in my heart?
Being unbound in obedience expresses freedom from duty, expectations, desires, competition and limitations.
Philippians 4:12-13 (NLT)
I know how to live on almost nothing or with everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it is with a full stomach or empty, with plenty or little. For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.
Spend some time reflecting on what stops you from loving and obeying God more. What are you wrestling about with God the most? Are you prepared to lay those things down and allow Him to begin working in those areas? Consider why you trust Him.
