Know Your Boundaries

Coming out of a wilderness takes time to adjust. You live a certain way in the wilderness, in order to survive. You think differently in a wilderness than if you live in urbanised areas, or cultivated gardens.

When you come out of a wilderness you must get to know your boundaries, do a study of the land, observe it for a while and take a survey of the surrounding features. When you understand your land and your boundaries, you need to claim it and set your heart to possess it, according to what the Lord has given you.

Isaiah 34:16-17 (NLV)

Look in the book of the Lord, and read: Not one of these will be missing. None will be without its mate. For the mouth of the Lord has said so, and His Spirit has gathered them. He will divide the land among them and give each of them a share. It will be theirs forever. From one family to their children’s children and on into the future, they will live in it.

Every bird has their nesting place where each generation return to. We have also been given our nesting place. God has redeemed us, fought for us, and as we have turned our hearts to Him, He has given us a place to inherit.

Joshua 23:3b (NIV)

it was the LORD your God who fought for you.

Joshua 23:14 (NLT)

Deep in your hearts you know that every promise of the Lord your God has come true. Not a single one has failed!

As we settle in the land that is no longer wasteland, no longer plundered, and no longer ruined; as we settle in a garden that is being rebuilt in a place of His choosing, we are to know our boundaries. We must remember it is by His hand that we have been re-established. It is by His calling and His will that we are being positioned and rebuilt. His promises never fail us. So we are to be glad and serve Him with all of our heart and soul.

Joshua 22:5 (NASB)

Only be very careful to follow the commandment and the Law which Moses the servant of the Lord commanded you, to love the Lord your God and walk in all His ways, and keep His commandments and cling to Him, and serve Him with all your heart and with all your soul.”

Joshua 23:16 (NLT)

If you break the covenant of the Lord your God by worshiping and serving other gods, his anger will burn against you, and you will quickly vanish from the good land he has given you.”

God can give and God can take away (Job 1:21). He doesn't take away out of spite. When we know our boundaries, we know God has given us land to work, and understand we are to fulfil His plan and position for us. When we know our boundaries we are kept in His covenant.
