God Is Constant,
Never-Changing
Every time I see the sun, I remember He put it there. Every time I appreciate the moon, I remember He keeps it there. Every time I see the stars, I am thankful for their beauty. I think of how they reflect His beauty and never-ending power.
James 1:17 (NCV)
Every good action and every perfect gift is from God. These good gifts come down from the Creator of the sun, moon, and stars, who does not change like their shifting shadows.
Hebrews 13:8 (WNT)
Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and to-day--yes, and to the ages to come.
Malachi 3:6 (NLT)
“I am the Lord, and I do not change. That is why you descendants of Jacob are not already destroyed.
We need constancy in life for it to be stable. Without stability, life is like standing on shifting sands as waves rush in and back out. We look for stability that we can trust. We want to think we can build in life without our building collapsing. When it does, we are shaken. We need something to hold on to that is reliable. That something is in the person of Jesus Christ.
Our jobs may never be secure. We may lose our homes. Our cars may break down and cause disruption to our routines. Our relationships may suffer. We may lose our finances. Perhaps we’ve lost everything and have had to start again. Where is the one thing we can count on to be constant and unchanging? Where is the one source of refuge, strength, and hope that remains even if nothing else remains? Where can I turn my mind when fear of what might happen in life crashes in on me?
God is a God who can restore all things. He is my one constant.
This life and everything in it is temporary but God has put eternity in our hearts and that never changes. God has redeemed the world from their sin, and we can look forward to an eternity with Him in peace and safety and joy, and that never changes. God has proven Himself faithful down through the centuries and His faithfulness never changes. God is, and that never changes.
2 Timothy 2:12-13 (NLT)
If we endure hardship, we will reign with him. If we deny him, he will deny us. If we are unfaithful, he remains faithful, for he cannot deny who he is.
Christians celebrate Easter because of the remarkable gift of salvation that God entered into our sin to give us; to show His faithfulness to us, His creation. How thankful I am to be able to commemorate what He has done for me and my family.
Should we be so proud as to turn away from such a gift? God is love and altogether just. He reaches out to anyone who looks to Him and believes. He is sovereign over all. The gift of Jesus Christ is so great that there is a consequence for those who choose to turn away. We turn away from Him when we are not willing to look at our deepest needs.
God is constant, never-changing. I have made my choice to believe in His unchanging mercy and justice and I am saved; me and my household. I pray that we can all say the same.
