Meditating on God’s Word

Sometimes, we wake up and we’re not rested, or we don’t feel at peace. On those mornings, more than any, meditating on God's Word equips us for the day.

Come to the Lord, hold out your cup and ask Him to fill it.

Psalm 145:18 (ESV)

The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.

We lay down our own 'truth' and seek His truth. His truth is steadfast and never-changing. It is stable and it supplies our minds with goodness. It teaches us and directs us towards what is right. In it, we are made stable.

Psalm 51:10-12 (NIV)

Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Do not cast me from your presence or take your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.

The Lord is our Spirit of hope and salvation. We can walk confidently into our day with Him leading us. When we seek Him, He helps us. When we seek Him, we are ushered into His presence and lifted up.

Sing to God, sing praises to His name; Exalt Him who rides through the deserts, whose name is the LORD, and be jubilant before Him.

His eternal power goes before us. We move in His wake. We can glory in His redeeming presence.

Psalm 96:2 (NIV)

Sing to the Lord, praise his name; proclaim his salvation day after day.

Put yourself and your household in the bible passages you read.

Deuteronomy 33:11 (NCV)

Lord, make [us] strong; be pleased with the work [we] do. Defeat those who attack [us], and don’t let [our] enemies rise up again.”

Who is the King of glory? The Lord, strong and mighty; the Lord, invincible in battle.

Believe in the LORD. Put on the full armour of God (Ephesians 6:14-18) and get ready for the day, thanking Him for His sovereign faithfulness.

So use every piece of God’s armour to resist the enemy whenever he attacks, and when it is all over, you will still be standing up.

Know who it is you belong to. Know who it is you stand in. When we seek Him, His goodness heals our minds, directs our thoughts and fills our hearts with fullness and conviction.

Finally, receive your power from the Lord and from his mighty strength. 

I pray that we will be dressed in God's strength, power, truth, and peace today. We thank Him for going before us and behind us. We thank Him for being our shield, for protecting us on every side. We thank Him for governing us and upholding us so that we don't strike our feet against any stone and if we stumble, He lifts us up. I pray He will direct our hearts and our tongues in righteousness and with complete trust.
