Know What You Believe
For a house to stand and remain, it must have firm ground underneath its foundations. Then it must have a strong foundation laid on top of that ground. Then it must have a strong framework built up around that foundation. Then it must have boundary cladding that the framework supports (walls and windows) to ensure privacy and safety from external conditions. Then it can be adorned with colour and light and the influences that express an owner’s attention to detail.
The bible describes our bodies as the houses of God. Does your body sufficiently hold the foundation and support the framework of God’s truths? Does it display the appropriate boundary cladding that typifies His safety instructions for living? Is it adorned with expressions of His colour and light that others can identify easily and be influenced by?
Our life is established on His faithfulness, is expressed by our own faithfulness, and accumulates continued stability, wealth and attention to detail that reflects His prosperity for our soul.
2 Timothy 1:12 (BSB)
I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed, and I am persuaded that He is able to guard my deposit entrusted for that day.
We build into a future that reflects the eternal God. The lives of those who believe won’t look the same as those who don’t believe. We establish our thinking differently. We prohibit certain lifestyle choices. We do not entertain things that set themselves up against the knowledge of what we believe, or we become unstable. Like shifting sand. We influence rather than be influenced by. We know we are living for the eternal God now, so that we can live with Him forever.
Romans 14:8 (NIV)
If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.
Romans 8:38-39 (NLT)
And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Believing is a process of faith. We can have doubts along our journey but this doesn’t invalidate our belief in the One we build our lives on. Remember what Jesus Christ has done. Know what He has established for you so that you can build your life on His sure foundation and no matter what happens, your life and future in Him is stable because you know what you believe and have entrusted yourself to Him.
