My Cup of Destiny

God has a cup especially designed for me. It’s handcrafted by Him. It’s my cup of destiny.

Psalm 139:16 (HCSB)

“Your eyes saw me when I was formless; all my days were written in Your book and planned before a single one of them began.”

My cup has dates written around it, people imaged over it, places mapped onto it, failures meshed within it, lessons tucked beneath it, and victories and achievements filling it. In it, God pours all the things He has designed for me to receive from Him so that I will find it palatable to drink. When I’ve poured into my own cup it’s not always palatable for anyone. God wants me to drink from His cup and reproduce it because what he gives me is always good for me. When I’ve drunk from His cup, it will also be good for others to receive what I share.

Zephaniah 3:17 (NKJV)

The Lord your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.”

If I’m feeling fearful, I can take my cup to God and He will pour courage into it. If I’m feeling hurt or hostile, I can take my cup to God and He will pour forgiveness into it. If I’m feeling ostracised, I can take my cup and receive His solidarity. I choose not to receive condemnation, mockery or ostracism poured out from anyone else’s cup. If I’m feeling lonely or despairing, I will take my cup and receive His love and acceptance, His hope, His companionship and His Kingship. If I’m feeling overwhelmed or overworked, I can take my cup to God and just sit with Him, and slow down.

I can sip from my cup of destiny all day throughout each day. When I do, I know I will reach my destiny and my journey will be the one mapped out on my cup.

Matthew 11:28 (GWT)

"Come to me, all who are tired from carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest.

John 7:37 (NASB)

Now on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink.
