An All-Sufficient God
and Me
Do you always feel capable for a task? Able to meet every challenge? Or do you at times feel overwhelmed, underqualified, unsure what to do next?
That’s ok. God is an all-sufficient God, a more-than-enough God. A mighty God. And He asks you and me to become sufficient in Him.
When we read in the bible that God says we’re not enough, we are weak but He is strong, He’s not trying to demoralise us. He is saying He knows our human weakness, but He is competent for anything. He wants to show us how He can help us. He made the universe (Genesis 1:1), everything belongs to Him and is under His rule (Hebrews 2:10).
He’s a Father who doesn’t leave or forsake us. He’s like a Mother who gathers her chicks under her wings. He’s a victorious warrior who deals with every enemy.
This morning, drink in the meaning of God being an all-sufficient God from these scriptures.
Deuteronomy 10:14 (NET)
The heavens—indeed the highest heavens—belong to the Lord your God, as does the earth and everything in it.
Psalm 91:1,4 (NLT)
He who lives in the safe place of the Most High will be in the shadow of the All-powerful. … He will cover you with His wings. And under His wings you will be safe. He is faithful like a safe-covering and a strong wall.
1 Corinthians 8:6 (NLT)
But for us, there is one God, the Father, by whom all things were created, and for whom we live. And there is one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things were created, and through whom we live.
Philippians 4:12-13
I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation... I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
2 Corinthians 3:5 (NIV)
Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God.
Romans 11:34,36 (NLT)
For who can know the Lord’s thoughts? Who knows enough to give him advice? And who has given him so much that he needs to pay it back?.. For everything comes from him and exists by his power and is intended for his glory. All glory to him forever! Amen.
If you think you need to do things yourself without Him, understand the vastness of God and grasp His personal investment in you. If you feel insufficient on your own, trust that God has your life in His hands and receive the amazing gift of help and empowering that He offers you.
Walk in God’s strength, in His desire that you strive for excellence while relying on His all-sufficiency. His favour for you is that you are more than enough in Him.
