Comfort and Joy
Do you find comfort and joy in the words comfort and joy?
When I’m needing comfort and joy, I draw on their honeyed warmth to revive my heart.
Comfort and joy wrap around me with the love of our Heavenly Father.
2 Corinthians 1:3 (NIV)
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort
Speak it out loud.
The Father of compassion and the God of all comfort
Speak it again and again until your heart receives it. Make it personal.
He is my Father of compassion. He is my God of all comfort.
You are the God of all comfort and my Father of compassion
The Lord Jesus Christ has made me an heir to receive your embrace of goodness. Because of your outpouring of comfort and compassion, I will receive Your fullness of joy.
Psalm 16:11 (ESV)
In your presence there is fullness of joy
Speak it out loud.
There is fullness of joy for me, in Your presence
You receive me. In Your presence there is fullness of joy.
Psalm 94:19 (NHEB)
In the multitude of my thoughts within me, your comforts delight my soul.
In the multitude of my thoughts that go haywire, let Your comforts bring me delight. Let Your comforts bring me a refreshed perspective. Let Your comforts set me upright again.
Your comforts assure me and wash away the multitude of my thoughts that spiral in my head. Your comforts set me straight. I find that from Your comforts come renewed joy. I begin to see clearly again. I begin to sing of Your goodness, once more. Your steadfastness is my measure and my assurance. It is me that changes because of You. Your comforts breathe delight back into my soul.
Psalm 16:6-8 (GWT)
Your boundary lines mark out pleasant places for me. Indeed, my inheritance is something beautiful. I will praise the Lord, who advises me. My conscience warns me at night. I always keep the Lord in front of me. When he is by my side, I cannot be moved.
Your goodness follows me. I will remember Your comforts, Your presence, Your compassion. You are my inheritance. Indeed, I have so much to be thankful for. Your boundary lines mark out pleasant places for me. Indeed, my inheritance is something beautiful. Not lacking. Not deficient. You advise me!
I will praise You. I will keep You in front of me. When You are at my side, as I live inside Your presence and remind myself of Your goodness toward me, I cannot be moved.
Romans 15:13 (GWT)
May God, the source of hope, fill you with joy and peace through your faith in him. Then you will overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Can you speak to your soul when you become downcast, and rest once more, in the comfort and joy of the Lord?
I pray that we will know you are near, Lord, to strengthen us in our weakness and bring us comfort and joy.
