On Your Bed

What do you think about when you’re on your bed at night? Or when you’re unwell? What does your mind meditate on? What is your heart overwhelmed by? Where does your soul go?

Psalm 63:6-8 (NLV)

On my bed I remember You. I think of You through the hours of the night. For You have been my help. And I sing for joy in the shadow of Your wings. My soul holds on to You. Your right hand holds me up.

In my work I see people in their most vulnerable states and their minds are consumed with what they’ve filled it with in life.

What state is your mind in? How do you live inside your being?

Isaiah 26:9 (GWT)

With my soul I long for you at night. Yes, with my spirit I eagerly look for you.

When you’re in your most vulnerable state, where does your mind go? Does it rest in the shadow of God’s wings? Or is it full of torment and confusion?

Philippians 4:8 (EASY)

Now my friends, I want to say this to you. Fill your minds with thoughts about good things. Think about things that are true, clean, right and lovely. Always think about things which people know are very good.

Make sure that when you’re in your most vulnerable state, you have fed it with so much good that you won’t be tormented by your previous mental diet.

Isaiah 26:3 (TLB)

He will keep in perfect peace all those who trust in him, whose thoughts turn often to the Lord!

We can build our life as big as we like but at the end everyone is equal. Nobody is strong forever. In the end we are made weak, and what we have fed our soul is all that we are left with.

Psalm 27:4 (NLV)

One thing I have asked from the Lord, that I will look for: that I may live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to look upon the beauty of the Lord, and to worship in His holy house.

Psalm 63:3 (NLV)

My lips will praise You because Your loving-kindness is better than life.
