God Works Through You
and With You
If you ever question whether God can use you when there are obstacles in your way, take a lesson from Moses today.
Moses was called by God to set the Israelites free from their Egyptian slavery. Yet, he had two major problems.
The first problem, was that God chose him to speak publicly. Yet, he had a speech impediment that was apparently so bad that he dreaded speaking publicly.
The second problem was that the people didn’t like listening to him. He was called by God to lead and speak, but the people didn’t want to listen or follow.
God saw these problems and worked with Moses to secure him in his calling, despite the obstacles, which, by the way, were never fully eliminated. They were always a test for Moses.
You may feel God asks you to do things but there are obstacles in your way. Your assurance today, is that The Lord will help you overcome.
Exodus 19:9 (NIV)
The LORD said to Moses, “I am going to come to you in a dense cloud, so that the people will hear me speaking with you and will always put their trust in you.”
Further in Exodus 20:18-20 (NIV)
When the people saw the thunder and lightning and heard the trumpet and saw the mountain in smoke, they trembled with fear. They stayed at a distance and said to Moses, “Speak to us yourself and we will listen. But do not have God speak to us or we will die.” Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. God has come to test you, so that the fear of God will be with you to keep you from sinning.”
Having a fear of the Lord is to understand who He is and His power and His sovereignty. What we can always rely on is His mercy.
Ultimately, we need the fear of God to keep us from sinning. We should carry a holy fear of God while accepting the grace of Jesus Christ and His work on the cross for our sake. Now, because of Jesus’ work, He calls us to work. Now, we are called to reach out to the world, as Jesus did. That is God’s will for us. Therefore, God promotes our calling. We fulfil God’s assignment for us because we know who He is and what He’s done for us.
Remembering that every day as we seek to demonstrate Him to the world around us, helps us to keep our focus on Him, rather than our insufficiencies.
2 Corinthians 12:9-10 (NLT)
Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me. That’s why I take pleasure in my weaknesses, and in the insults, hardships, persecutions, and troubles that I suffer for Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
God will make a way, even if we feel insignificant, powerless, weak or disabled by the obstacles we see. Just like Moses.
Walk in His strength today, following God through the obstacles.
