When Jesus

It has been established that Jesus is a historical figure and many millions believe He did indeed die and rise to life and was seen by hundreds of people afterwards, before he ascended to heaven.

There are mysteries of the Spirit that we can’t comprehend with our natural mind.

How did Jesus function in the natural? He never rushed, yet He ministered to hundreds.

What can I learn from Him today?

When Jesus said anything, it was always the right thing to say because He was always directed by the Father (John 12:49). When Jesus did something it was always with the purpose of the Father (John 14:31). When Jesus prayed, He drew from the Father (Luke 5:16).

John 12:49 (NLT)

I don’t speak on my own authority. The Father who sent me has commanded me what to say and how to say it.

John 14:31b (NIV)

…I love the Father and do exactly what my Father has commanded me.

Luke 5:16 (NIV)

But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.

Even though he travelled the region a lot, Jesus always walked and used the time to talk with those with him, and, presumably enjoy nature – His own creation around Him.

He took time to see people even when he was pressed and hemmed in by many. He didn’t overlook anyone, which we can often do when we’re focused on a set task, or people, or deadline. He was deliberate in what He did and where He had to be.

Jesus trusted in the Father to be where He needed to be so the people (recorded in the bible) who needed to reach Him, could reach Him. People like the woman at the well (John 4:1-42), the Centurion (Matthew 8:5-13), the woman with the haemorrhage (Mark 5:25-34), the woman caught in adultery (John 8:1-11), and even Lazurus (John 11:1-44) who He waited to see.

I would like to try and operate that way consistently. Not driven by the next thing but seeing my next destination in the spirit. I do rely on God to direct my feet through each day and make sure I see people at the right time. I do rely on God to give me the thoughts to have so I can function in my role most effectively and offer the most effective opportunities for each person I serve. I do rely on God to help me to see my role as a serving role and use that role to reach people’s hearts and bring healing.

Jesus is a role model of grace and power, of effectiveness and engagement, of resoluteness and wisdom. I pray our spirit will be receptive to the Holy Spirit, when Jesus says, "go".
