A Forever God

is in the Breakages

Jeremiah 29:13-14

If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me. I will be found by you,” says the Lord. “I will end your captivity and restore your fortunes. I will gather you out of the nations where I sent you and will bring you home again to your own land.”

A forever God will never leave you stranded. He knows what He’s doing in your life from beginning to end. ‘If you look for God wholeheartedly’ means you won’t go looking for something else and it means you won’t question His integrity or His authority.

Jude 21

keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.

Life doesn't always work out the way you plan or imagine. What better place to keep yourself in life, than in God’s love? In the friendships that change or divide, in the family relationships that break down, in the embarrassments and the pettiness of people’s disloyalty, in the loss of homes or careers, in the displacement of self in new places, in the finding of yourself as you try to find purpose and meaning, in the great pain of life, what better place to keep yourself than in God’s love?

He is always on your side. He is always with you, understanding you more than you can understand yourself.

Life breaks you but as long as you don’t let yourself be afraid of the breakages, and you let God be part of that mess, He refines you and reshapes you into what He wants you to be – stronger and more stable than ever before. A forever God is in the breakages. That’s where you want Him – with you in everything, binding up all the scrapes and wounds and bruises as you run along your path.

Staying humble, not rushing ahead of God, keeping yourself in quiet repose will help you endure the frustrations, the hurts, the uncertainties and the questions.

Jude 24

To him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy—
