The Structural Integrity and Refinement of Obedience

The Lord knows all things from beginning to end. He sets your feet, He positions you, He knows your heart, He knows what He has called you to do. So don’t be put off.

Do what the Lord has called you to do, indeed, even commanded your heart to do.

Exodus 4:11-12 (NLT)

Then the Lord asked Moses, “Who makes a person’s mouth? Who decides whether people speak or do not speak, hear or do not hear, see or do not see? Is it not I, the Lord? Now go! I will be with you as you speak, and I will instruct you in what to say.”

Moses did not want to obey God's call to Him, but He did, and he invested in that call.

Go, and do whatever it is you are meant to be doing. Be perceptive with mindsets, be honest with emotions, be effective with insight, be compassionate with behaviour, be embracing with relationships, be wise with speech, be bold in obedience. Even when it’s hard. Trust that God has a plan through it all and He will accomplish what He sets out to do through you.

Matthew 6:33 (ESV)

But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

Don’t seek others’ approval, others’ expectations, others’ direction. The Lord God goes ahead of you and leads you. All you have to do is follow and obey.

“Obey” isn’t a popular word in our vocabulary these days, but without obedience there is chaos. There is no safety, no law and order, there is no peace in the home between parents and children, there is no regard in the work place or at school, there is no refinement. What a wonderful word. Refinement.

Obedience has boundaries interwoven into its core. Boundaries are important for moral conduct. Being obedient is a behaviour we learn in order to understand another’s position, be orderly, be truthful and respectful. Obedience has a structural integrity written into its code.

Obedience comes through a relationship of love or an understanding of goodness.

When it comes to God, are we obedient?

John 14:15 (AMP)

“If you [really] love Me, you will keep and obey My commandments.

The structural integrity and refinement of obedience is rather like the root system for a forest of trees. The bible talks a lot about obedience and it is something we have to embrace in order to truly, effectively follow God and the calling He has predestined us to fulfil.

I pray that today we will go, we will hear God, we will see what He sees, and we will obey.
