God’s Promises Are Sure
Like the promise after pregnancy, you expect delivery of a baby. You plan for it. Things grow and take shape in the waiting. You can look and see the signs and you can be ready for the birth because the promise is the assurance of things coming.
Jeremiah 33:24-26 (TLB)
Have you heard what people are saying?—that the Lord chose Judah and Israel and then abandoned them! They are sneering and saying that Israel isn’t worthy to be counted as a nation. But this is the Lord’s reply: I would no more reject my people than I would change my laws of night and day, of earth and sky. I will never abandon the Jews, or David my servant, or change the plan that his child will someday rule these descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. Instead I will restore their prosperity and have mercy on them.
God is forever faithful. He has laws for night and day, for earth and sky and the only one who can change those laws are Him. No climate change or global warming, no natural events, no meteor crash. Nothing else will change God’s laws that govern earth. If you believe that, you can believe God is also always faithful to His people. Instead, He fully restores and shows compassion.
He is able to give signs of how He plans your life to look. Are you seeing? Are you asking?
Life doesn’t always look like we see in our imagination. Esther was placed in the royal palace for a greater reason than she could have imagined. What might she have thought at first when she entered the harem at the king’s decree? It wasn’t until she was established in the court as Queen, and had become known to the king, had formed the attachment needed with the king, that Haman made his plan public to destroy every Jewish person in their world, not knowing the Queen herself was a Jew.
Esther 4:14 (NLT)
If you keep quiet at a time like this, deliverance and relief for the Jews will arise from some other place, but you and your relatives will die. Who knows if perhaps you were made queen for just such a time as this?”
God’s promise to always look after His people would have come through someone other than Esther if she had not followed her calling, in obedience. God’s promise wouldn’t be thwarted because of any person. Haman was the one who was destroyed but not before Esther gave up her right to her life and followed the signs she saw, in obedience; the real reason she was in the palace and given a place of greatest influence with the king.
God’s promises are sure and His restoration is always complete, no matter what it looks like along the way.
Your life rests in God’s hands. If you follow the signs God gives you in obedience, you will reach the destiny God has for you.
