Heal Me Lord

The relief of healing is immeasurable. When we have any sort of ailment, whether it's physical, emotional, mental, or spiritual, we need to believe in healing. That hope is what gives us the ability to persevere until healing's conclusion.

Matthew 9:25 (NET)

he said, “Go away, for the girl is not dead but asleep!” And they began making fun of him [they were laughing at him]. But when the crowd had been forced outside, he went in and gently took her by the hand, and the girl got up.

(NET note: given the raucous nature of the crowd in verse 23 forceful activity was probably required in order to evict them.)

I love these two responses Jesus gave to these two different groups of people. To those who didn’t believe and jeered at him, he forcefully evicted. (In the New Living Bible it translates Jesus as telling them forcefully to, “Get out!”). But once they were gone and the house was quiet, the parents led Jesus to their daughter and he was immediately gentle, taking her by the hand. As He touched her, life flowed back into her body.

Matthew 9:27-30 (GWT)

When Jesus left that place, two blind men followed him. They shouted, “Have mercy on us [show kindness to us], Son of David.” Jesus went into a house, and the blind men followed him. He said to them, “Do you believe that I can do this?” “Yes, Lord,” they answered. He touched their eyes and said, “What you have believed will be done for you!” Then they could see.

Here, the faith of these two desperate men brought about their healing. They believed Jesus was kind, was able, and if He were willing, they would be able to be healed from their blindness. In a day when afflictions were so often a life sentence, their opportunity to meet with Jesus and gain a miracle wasn’t something they were willing to let go of. So they followed Him. They called to Him. Their persistence demonstrated their belief. And Jesus rewarded their persistent belief.

“What you have believed will be done for you!”

What am I believing in my life that is bringing about it’s own result? Where do I need to come to Jesus and believe in His kindness, His ability, and His willingness to heal me? Wherever I am willing to say, "Heal me Lord", I believe that Jesus is the same today as He was 2000 years ago. He has taken back the keys to life, death, sin and sickness and He is enthroned, still ready and willing to heal; able to give us new life.

Romans 8:11 (BSB)

And if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit, who lives in you.
