Meditate on Hope
Romans 15:13 (BLB)
Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, for you to abound in hope in the power of the Holy Spirit.
Fill. Abound. These are words that describe the nature of God’s goodness and His desire that we flourish. That we are filled and abound in hope in the power of the Holy Spirit.
Meditate on hope and what this verse is saying for a few minutes. Hope is necessary for the believer’s faith. Hope is necessary for life and abundance. Hope is like springs of living water.
John 7:37-38 (NLT)
Jesus stood and shouted to the crowds, “Anyone who is thirsty may come to me! Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.’”
The offspring of God’s hope is joy and peace in believing because of the power of the Holy Spirit.
The hope of the world will still produce anxiety because we cannot be sure what we hope for will come to fruition. We will always have a ‘what if it doesn’t happen?’ anxiety if we’re just hoping, wishing or praying in disbelief. This is why hoping in the power of the Holy Spirit is different. His hope fills us with joy and peace in believing.
God’s filling comes from the Spirit of God. We feed on and drink in His Word, and are filled. We allow our minds to be renewed by what His Word says and what His Spirit tells us. This is where our hope, our joy, our peace, our believing come from. This is where we begin to walk in His power, not our own. These are the things we meditate on and allow our emotions to be restored in Him in this way. Healing will come in this way. New pathways will form in this way. His presence is like a spring of the cleanest water that bubbles up within us.
Nehemiah 8:10 (GWT)
Don't be sad because the joy you have in the LORD is your strength."
Psalm 28:7 (NLT)
The LORD is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving.
With all my heart. He helps me and my heart is filled with joy. So filled with joy that where an hour ago I felt so depleted, now, in the filling of the Holy Spirit, I burst out in songs of thanksgiving.
2 Kings 6:17 (NIV)
Then the Lord opened the servant’s eyes.
Allow the Lord to open our spiritual eyes, and be filled with wonder and belief. This causes us to live differently.
John 10:27 (NKJV)
My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.
Isaiah 65:14 (NIV)
My servants will sing out of the joy of their hearts,
I pray that we are filled with hope in the power of the Holy Spirit today and be abundantly filled with joy and peace in believing. I pray that God will be able to do more in us and through us today because we hope in His power.
