Don’t Be Fooled but Continue in Faith, Hope and Love
Many will come in the last days and mislead, if possible, even true believers (Matthew 24).
How can I know I won’t be misled?
1 Peter 1:5 (NASB) says true believers will be “protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.”
If you're a true believer, seek God’s undiluted truth in His Word without shaping it to suit yourself. Let God's truth shape you. Don't be fooled. Spend time each day studying it, receiving it in it's fullness, and you won't be misled.
Matthew 24:11-13 (CJB)
many false prophets will appear and fool many people; and many people’s love will grow cold because of increased distance from Torah [scripture]. But whoever holds out till the end will be delivered.
Matthew 24:11-13 (EXB)
There will be more and more evil [sin; lawlessness] in the world, so most people will stop showing their love for each other [the love of many/most will grow cold].
Rebellion, lawlessness, and sin are different translations for the same thing. Whoever or whatever works against God and His Word will grow distant from love for others.
Don’t be fooled by the people who speak against what the bible says – even when they are people whose opinion you once valued. People may change and choose to suit themselves but that is not truth. Truth is an absolute. It does not change. There is one truth written clearly in the bible that is the same yesterday, today, and forever, so that we are not fooled. That truth will save you from an eternity of hell. Follow it.
2 Timothy 3:1-5 (TLB)
You may as well know this too, Timothy [insert your name here], that in the last days it is going to be very difficult to be a Christian. For people will love only themselves and their money; they will be proud and boastful, sneering at God, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful to them, and thoroughly bad. They will be hardheaded and never give in to others; they will be constant liars and troublemakers and will think nothing of immorality. They will be rough and cruel, and sneer at those who try to be good. They will betray their friends; they will be hotheaded, puffed up with pride, and prefer good times to worshiping God. They will go to church, yes, but they won’t really believe anything they hear. Don’t be taken in by people like that.
So, how to overcome, be strong and keep joy in your heart?
Don’t be a lover of yourself more than a seeker of God’s truth. Make the Word of God your standard and sift everything else against it. Make the Word of God the dearest thing in your life. Reliance on God is where our strength comes from and any fear is laid down. Put strong roots down into His love, know Him, and your joy will be found in Him.
What will endure forever? Good news!
1 Corinthians 13:13 (NLT)
Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.
