Dress Sense
God cares about what we wear, but His clothing is all about our reputation, our senses, our countenance and how we manage ourselves in the world.
God cares about how we feel, how we’re perceived, and He speaks about things that are lasting and virtuous.
The bible says God gives us armour, and for the righteous, one day, the finest linen.
When Isaiah 52:1 says, “Put on your garments of splendour, Jerusalem,” he’s not talking about beautiful dresses. He’s talking about something much, much better.
Have you ever studied the bible to see what God tells us to wear? What He tells us not to wear, and what He tells us to exchange, is just as illuminating.
Romans 13:12
… So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armour of light.
God wants us to have the right outlook so that we'll be successful.
Proverbs 3:3-4 (NLT)
Never let loyalty and kindness leave you! Tie them around your neck as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart. Then you will find favour with both God and people, and you will earn a good reputation.
There are so many scriptures that tell us about God's dress sense. His wardrobe changes who we are and the way we view ourselves.
Colossians 3:12
… clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
God’s wardrobe penetrates the spirit. God’s wardrobe has an everlasting effect.
Psalm 30:11
You turned my wailing into dancing; (movement) you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy (emotions), that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent (noise).
Just like we open our wardrobe door in the morning and decide on the clothes we’ll put on our bodies and how we might adorn ourselves, we can choose what we wear each day in the spirit. This changes our outlook and can change the course of each day.
I pray that today we will listen to the whisper of the Spirit telling us what clothing we need to put on that will adjust our countenance, and purify our responses. I pray that He will help us if we need to adjust our wardrobe throughout the day, so that we would overcome.
