Dress Sense
God cares about what we wear, but His clothing is all about our reputation, our senses, our countenance and how we manage ourselves in the world.
God cares about how we feel, how we’re perceived and He speaks about things that are lasting and virtuous.
The bible says God gives us armour and for the righteous, one day, the finest linen.
When Isaiah 52:1 says, “Put on your garments of splendour, Jerusalem,” he’s not exactly talking about beautiful dresses! He’s talking about something much, much better.
If you've ever studied the bible to see what God tells us to put on, what He tells us not to put on, and what He tells us to exchange, you'll know how illuminating it is.
Romans 13:12
… So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armour of light.
God wants us to have the right outlook so that we'll be successful.
Proverbs 3:3-4 (NLT)
Never let loyalty and kindness leave you! Tie them around your neck as a reminder. Write them deep within your heart. Then you will find favour with both God and people, and you will earn a good reputation.
There are so many scriptures that tells us about God's dress sense. His wardrobe changes who we are and the way we think.
Colossians 3:12
… clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.
God’s wardrobe penetrates the spirit.
Psalm 30:11
You turned my wailing into dancing; (movement) you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy (emotions), that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent (noise).
God’s wardrobe has an everlasting effect. Just like we open our wardrobe door in the morning and decide on the clothes we’ll put on our bodies and how we might adorn ourselves, we can choose what we wear each day in the spirit. This changes our outlook and can change the course of each day.
I pray that today we will listen to the whisper of the Spirit telling us what clothing we need to put on that will adjust our countenance, and purify our responses. I pray that He will help us adjust our wardrobe throughout the day that we would overcome.
