Gentleness

Gentleness. A beautiful word. A beautiful action. A beautiful feeling. A beautiful effect.

Gentleness is amplified in whispers. It treads softly while creating her footprint. It smiles instead of scowls.

Gentleness is a light when darkness would take over. It understands the gloom but moves beyond it. It redirects anxiety and struggle into quiet confidence.

Gentleness doesn’t succumb; it perceives. It doesn’t hide, it peers through cages of limitations. Gentleness cares.

Gentleness is a fruit of the Spirit.

Galatians 5:22-23 (NLT)

But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!

Ephesians 4:1-3 (NLT)

Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God. Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love. Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace.

Titus 3:1-2 (ESV)

Remind them to be submissive to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good work, to speak evil of no one, to avoid quarrelling, to be gentle, and to show perfect courtesy toward all people.

Proverbs 15:4 (TLB)

Gentle words cause life and health; griping brings discouragement.

1 Peter 3:4 (NLV)

Your beauty should come from the inside. It should come from the heart. This is the kind that lasts. Your beauty should be a gentle and quiet spirit. In God’s sight this is of great worth and no amount of money can buy it.

Proverbs 15:1 (NLV)

A gentle answer turns away anger, but a sharp word causes anger.

Gentleness is housed by humility and care. We cultivate it when we allow it to change us. The benefits of gentleness creates health in the way we speak, houses willingness and wisdom in the way we think, extends respect in the way we treat others, holds value in the way we treat ourselves.

Gentleness is the velvet glove of restraint and strength.

Psalm 4:4 (TLB)

Stand before the Lord in awe, and do not sin against him. Lie quietly upon your bed in silent meditation.
