Perfected in Exposures

of Weakness

WE are not meant to carry our own burdens. We are not meant to be our own strength.  We are to learn to identify ourselves in Christ Jesus.

Jesus came, endured, and overcame for us so that He would carry our weaknesses and help us to overcome our burdens. It isn’t a magic cure. We are perfected in exposures of weakness. This is about being cured from performance and healed toward wholeness. It is an ongoing journey of authenticity and understanding of what God’s strength in us really means.

Matthew 26:75 (NET)

Then Peter remembered what Jesus had said: “Before the rooster crows, you will deny me three times.” And he went outside and wept bitterly.

Peter only realised his own weakness in the exposure of that dreadful moment. When earlier that evening he had carried a sword and declared his loyalty to Jesus, now he wondered with consternation how he could have let his friend and Lord down so much.

The situations we find ourselves in, when our own behaviour causes our consternation and we wonder what we’re really like, is where God is exposing our weaknesses so that He can do a better work in us. In that exposure we are at a crossroads, to decide if we will let that weakness and exposure of shame consume us, or if we will allow that exposure to change us, realign us more perfectly with God, and strengthen our resolve to be shaped by Him. Where He becomes our strength. Where we don’t allow shame to cover us, but we allow Jesus’ blood bought sacrifice to cover us and wash that shame away so we can walk on, upright, and more perfected.

When we submit ourselves to being perfected in exposures of weakness, we can delight in His goodness as we grow.
