There is a time for crying. There is a time for rejoicing. There is a time to let go and a time to heal. There is a time to search, a time to keep, a time to remove, a time to slow down, a time to work, a time to explore new thought, a time to understand, a time to embrace.
There is a time for every season under heaven. Every season. (Read Ecclesiastes 3:1-8.)
When Jesus comes into a season that we think is the end, He brings a new beginning that is meaningful. A new season that maybe we didn’t see coming because we never saw the importance of it. But He knows. This is a time to embrace what He brings. To wait on Him. To sit quietly and watch. To be ready in quietness and confidence, because His goodness pursues us. We need to be ready for it so we can receive it. (Read Psalm 23.)
Luke 7:11-17 describes a story of Jesus raising a widow’s son from the dead. He walks up to her and says, “don’t cry”. When Jesus said that, rather than being filled with absurdity, I somehow think she would have been filled with a sudden welling of peace and inspired hope.
Jesus, the Son of God, The Creator, said “don’t cry”. The bible says He raised her son from the dead and ‘gave him back to her’. He had authority over death and took him from death and brought him back to life. In that act, He also gave her back new life, new hope, and renewed purpose.
The crowd of people were filled with awe and said, “God has come to help His people”. That’s who Jesus is. He is God, The Creator, come to help His people. He comes to give us hope, purpose, and new life.
