Receive Your Healing
“Do you want to be made well?”, was a question Jesus asked a man who had been sick a long, long, long time (John 5:6).
It seems like an odd question, but we can sometimes be reticent about the strangest of things. Our mind can disagree with our heart and we have to bring both into alignment with the Spirit of God.
Proverbs 17:22 (NCV)
A happy heart is like good medicine, but a broken spirit drains your strength.
We are put together, spirit, soul and body, like a combination lock. One part cannot work separately from another. All parts create the whole.
God’s will is that I walk through life with full capacity. I am made strong in Him. He gives me physical endurance, soundness of mind and wholeness of heart. The choices I make towards that end will sustain that end.
Every part of our body is a testament to the perfection of God. Do we respect that? Do we look after ourselves by the way we eat or drink? Do we care for ourselves by refraining from taking harmful substances? Do we safeguard ourselves by the way we think and the things we allow ourselves to view or listen to? Do we respect ourselves by holding ourselves in a way that is pure and lovely?; in a way that will ensure nourishment and longevity?
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (CEB)
Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you? Don’t you know that you have the Holy Spirit from God, and you don’t belong to yourselves? You have been bought and paid for, so honour God with your body.
We can open ourselves up to, or unintentionally agree with, wrong thoughts, wrong motivations, wrong intentions, and things that the world around us normalises; things that have been spoken over us; or the way someone treats us that we accept instead of reject.
We grow once we realise that we live by a different code of conduct. It is higher. It is worth more. We are worth more.
Mark 5:34 (NIV)
He said to her, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace and be freed from your suffering.”
We can have faith for all sorts of things, not just ‘big’ things. A revelation of faith to love and master your body is just as important as a revelation of faith for God to provide financially for you.
Faith – personal confidence and trust in something or someone
Healing – a process of becoming healthy again
Peace – freedom from disturbance
Freed – not enslaved or confined
Suffering – enduring pain, misery or loss
In an expanded sense, Mark 5:34 is saying this:
Daughter (Son), your personal confidence and trust in God has made you healthy again. You won’t be confined by having to endure this pain and misery anymore. Go in freedom from the disturbance this has caused your life.
If you believe it, receive your healing in any way that you need – body, soul, or spirit. Be freed from your suffering and live your life out differently than before.
